02 June 2018

Staff from OFBank recently joined Brigada Eskwela 2018, a yearly “bayanihan” drive led by the Department of Education before the start of a new school year.

As the bank support the theme of Brigada Eskwela 2018 which dubbed as “Pagkakaisa Para sa Handa, Ligtas at Matatag na Paaralan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan,” OFBank President and CEO Renato G. Eje said that bank’s engagement to such volunteerism projects is to encourage personnel to give out their effort and time to practice bayanihan as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility.

He also said that OFbank’s volunteerism program encourages community service among its employees just like what its parent company, Land Bank of the Philippines has been doing over the past years, e.g. supporting programs and working together with communities and organizations that promote positive change. Among these programs involve various services to people and the community including environmental sustainability and go green programs, among others.

OFBank’s Human Resource Department organized said activity held last 02 June 2018, which started at 8:00 o’clock in the morning. Joining the Brigada Eskwela were the OFBank officers and employees as well as security and utility personnel of the Bank. They helped repaint and clean school facilities, tables and chairs and three (3) classrooms at Arsenio C. Herrera Elementary School located at San Teodoro St. Barrio Obrero, Tondo Manila. The Bank also donated the roller brushes and other cleaning materials to the school which they can also use in their other classrooms.

The teachers of Arsenio C. Herrera Elementary School led by school principal Lilybeth Cuento expressed their deep gratitude to the Bank. A Certificate of Appreciation was also handed by the school to OFBank. She said that they were indeed elated that OFBank has chosen their school for the Brigada Eskela 2018 since they really need assistance, resources and budget to enhance their school facilities.
